WNFC Coyotes stay hot in league play

The Western Nevada FC Coyotes continued their strong play within the league Saturday night where they extended their road game success with a dominating 8-1 victory over the Chico City FC Rangers.

It did not take long for the Coyotes to strike as Nick Tunic was able to find the net in the 2nd minute of the match. The goal came off of fast and furious pressure from the Coyotes that forced the opposing goal keeper into a mistake that Tunic calmly finished off. Shortly after in the 6th minute, Salifu Jatta found his first for the Match. Within 10 minutes of play the Coyotes were up 2-0 and feeling confident with their fast and furious playing style. The pair up top was very dynamic in their skills and movements that the Chico City Rangers could not keep them off the scores sheet again. Tunic again struck in the 34th minute extending the lead to 3-0. Jatta came out of the half time hungry for another goal and found it in the 50th minute. The Coyotes were up 4-0 with still 40 minutes left of play. Fast and Furious Football was in effect with everybody contributing to the success that the team was looking for with their intense pressure to win every ball back. Michael Cole extended the lead to 5 with his goal in the 62nd minute and Salifu Jatta then recorded his hat trick in the 67th minute making the Nevada Coyotes lead 6-0 now. Unfortunately, there was a breakthrough for the Rangers that they scored off of to make it 6-1. The Coyotes decided they were not done yet for Nicolas Ramirez added his name to the scoresheet with his goal in the 75th minute. Play from here looked as if the game would end 7-1, but Demitri Fefllines kept the strong attacks going with adding a goal in the 81st minute. They are now at the top of league sitting with 6 points that have all come from road matches.

Coach Ian Hill discussed the match after the game, “Proud of a great overall team win! Our press did its job and gave us 2 goals in the first 6 minutes. Salifu Jatta was outstanding with 3 goals and 2 assists, as well as Nick Tunic and the 2 goals and 2 assists he contributed. I was also very pleased with the players who came throughout the game; Favio Torres, Nick Ramariez and Demrtri Fellines did great work! We have some things to clean up and improve on, however, 8 – 1 on the road, is something to be proud of.”

Salifu Jatta discussed how he and his team were able to win this match, “Feels good to have one of those games early. We struggled in the first half to put more goals on the other team, but came out flying in the second half. We scored in the first couple mins of the second half thanks to a brilliant pass by Nick. Overall, we got to use everyone that travelled and bench played really well.”

Daniel Baumgartner talked to us about takeaways from the match that they will use for preparation the coming week, “it was a hard-fought match. Coming off a win like that is a confidence booster and we will use that momentum heading into our next game. I am truly grateful to be a part of such a great organization and a team that doesn’t stop and is never satisfied. We still have a lot to work on in the coming weeks because we are taking this league game by game. Our sole Focus now is on the match against Eastbay.”

The Western Nevada FC Coyotes prepare for their first home match against East Bay Tecos Fire this week.
